If you are using… EFSnet Native Mode, and EFSnet Manages Your Data

How to confirm you are using Native Mode on EFSnet, and use EFSnet to manage your data

Your application code uses the native methods in the EFSnet Interface Specification such as CreditCardCharge, CreditCardAuthorize and so on.  However, your application stores no transaction data apart from the TransactionID data element returned by EFSnet; and, when you want to manage a previously performed transaction, you use the TransactionID to refer to that prior transaction.

One good way to determine if your application code manages its own data is to evaluate how you perform a refund using EFSnet.  If you use the CreditCardCredit method, you are managing your own transaction data.  If you use the CreditCardRefund data, you are expecting EFSnet to do it.

YOUR RECOMMENDED SOLUTION

YOUR ALTERNATE SOLUTION

Your recommended solution is

Datawire EFSNet Native Emulator offering.  This emulated Web services environment will emulate a majority of the EFSnet native functionality.  Please see listing of obsolete EFSnet methods not supported in the Datawire emulator solution.

Your alternate solution is

Datawire Common XML interface offering, or Datawire IPN using the appropriate Buypass/Atlanta host specification for your business requirements

Availability of this solution

Buypass platform support – Early 2009

Availability of this solution

Common XML – Late 2008

Datawire IPN and Host specifications – Immediate

Advantages of this solution

It is difficult or cost-prohibitive to convert your application code to use the Datawire direct APIs or other First Data Gateways; however, EFSnet Native Mode Emulation does not offer the robustness of the complete Datawire solution.

This might be an option if

The timeframe of Common XML availability does not suit your organization, or you need specific features not planned in the Common XML interface

Effort to migrate

Very small; in most cases only a URL change will be required

Effort to migrate

Small to moderate; the XML and Web service interfaces will be similar to EFSnet, but Datawire and host specification interfaces (if necessary) will need to be built, tested and certified
